- Phosphate Deposits at Wadi Swab
Iraq is internationally classified as the second country which owns the biggest phosphate reserves in the world. The Iraqi reserve of phosphate deposits in the Western Desert exceeds ten billion tons, which equals (9%) of the international phosphate reserves.
- The deposits are located at a distance of (110) km to the north of Rutba, and (5) km to the west of Akashat mines.
- Reserve The phosphate reserves are (3.5) billion tons, category C1. It is worth to mention that the average concentration of phosphorous oxides (P2O5) is (21.7) %.
- Using They are used in the manufacturing of phosphatic fertilizers, phosphoric acid and other phosphate industries.
2- Phosphate Deposits at Wadi Hiri
- They are located at a distance of (15-20) km to the northeast of Akashat mines.
- Phosphate reserves in this location are (195) million tons of raw phosphate, category B, and ready for investment. It is worth to mention that the average concentration of phosphorous oxides (P2O5) in this location is between (21-22) %.
- They are used in the manufacturing of phosphatic fertilizers, phosphoric acid and other phosphate industries.
