Second: Native Sulfur Deposits
Geological explorations have determined the existence of big reserves of native sulfur deposits at Mishraq Fields (1,2,3)/ Nineveh Governorate, besides their existence in other locations (Fatha/ Saladin Governorate). The total amount of reserves is (320) million tons for Mishraq Fields (1,2,3).
1. Mishraq Sulfur (Lazzaga Field)
Location It is located at the western bank of Tigris, at a distance of (15) km to the south of Mosul City.
The reserve at Lazzaga field is (23,5) million tons.
The extraction of native sulfur deposits and utilize them with the phosphatic fertilizers for agricultural purposes, sulfuric acid production and other industries.
2. Mishraq Sulfur (2)
Location It is located at a distance of (45) km to the southeast of Mosul City, and on the east bank of Tigris.
The reserves of this field are (65,8) million tons.
The extraction of native sulfur deposits and utilize them with the phosphatic fertilizers for agricultural purposes, sulfuric acid production and other industries or for export.
3. Mishraq Sulfur (3)
Location This field is located to the southeast of Mosul City at a distance of (45) km on the east bank of Tigris where the Great Zab separates between Mishraq fields (2) and (3).
The reserves are (224) million tons.
The extraction of native sulfur deposits and utilize them with the phosphatic fertilizers for agricultural purposes, sulfuric acid production and other industries or for export.
