The Department performs the following duties:

1- Drilling activities for GEOSURV projects purposes and for other authorities. These activities include mineral exploration and prospecting activities, hydrogeology and maintenance of GEOSURV premises and installations.

2- Supervising the transportation services movement, maintaining drilling machinery and equipment, besides other vehicles and supervising their repairs.

The Department performs its responsibilities through the following divisions:

1- Drilling Division.

2- Maintenance of drilling machinery and equipment.

3- Transportation Division.

4- Maintenance and construction Division
