Tasks of the Geology Division are conducting:

• Regional, Detailed, and Semi-detailed geological survey in all across Iraq. Moreover, is preparing technical reports to them.

• Studies for preliminary assessment of economic deposits that used for diversified industries.

• Studies on alternatives marble from the sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rocks as well as special studies for railways arbitration stone.

• Geological hazards studies/map across Iraq.

• Training courses for geologists.

• Geotechnical studies for construction works, dams, tunnels, and bridges.

• Give geological scientific advice for different purposes.

• Undertake to prepare special reports on the geological map reports scale of 1: 100,000/1:250000/1:1000000, and re-updated the previous maps.

• Preparation of investment plan for future projects.
