Tasks of the Geographical information System Division

1.  Preparing digital maps, databases and associated digital documents.
2. Building an information system for the above paragraph using the geographic information system (GIS).
3. Managing spatial data and building a system to manage and control this data and develop it continuously.
4. Carrying out the works of processing and analysis of digital data and preparing their own studies.
5. Providing support and consulting for the departments and other technical divisions in the field of geological and mineral digital information.
6. Developing previously prepared databases and prepare them according to the system of the geographic information system (GIS).
7. Preparing new databases as well as digital site maps with their databases.
8. Preparing a spatial database (Geodatabase).
9. Producing maps for marketing and electronic publishing purposes.
10. Collecting of digital data accomplished in the form of (GIS) database and at various drawing scales.
11. Building spatial databases in the form of (Geodatabase) and for each scale has a separate draw from the other and according to the maps boards of these scales which cover the entire area of Iraq.
12. Conducting audit and processing work for these files by merging files and cutting them according to new spaces such as governorates boundaries, scale 1:1000000.
13. Creating files (mxd) for this data and deliver a copy of it to the data management division in order to be published within the website publishing paragraph.
14. Creating a layout files in preparation for printing.
