GEOSURV Director General, Ph.D. Safa'a el Deen Faghry Abd el Majeed, was interviewed by the   Iraqi Media Network/ Good Morning Iraq program on the 9th of October 2017. Ph.D. Abd el Majeed presented a brief of GEOSURV scientific history and its pioneering role in supporting the Iraqi industries in the fields of mining and construction industry, he added that GEOSURV is a research, scientific and consulting authority specialized in the activities of geological survey and mineral exploration for all minerals and raw materials which exist in Iraq through its technical and supporting departments. Then, the Director General gave them a brief about GEOSURV geological museum which is the only of its kind in Iraq.

The TV program team also met a number of GEOSURV advanced cadre from the departments of Drilling and Central Laboratories who explained the importance of Drilling Department activities in supporting geological field teams in acquiring subsurface samples, and also the important role of GEOSURV laboratories in defining the suitability of these minerals and raw materials for different kinds of industries.

The Visit of AlKarkh University of Science Delegation to GEOSURV

Pursuant to the directives of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals concerning the cooperation between the scientific and professional institutions, GEOSURV received a delegation from AlKarkh University of Science on Tuesday, 8th of January 2019. The delegation consisted of Ph.D. Ramy Mahmood Eedan, Ph.D. Amani Lua’y Salih and others accompanied by a number of students from Geophysics Department from the aforementioned university. The visitors were welcomed by GEOSURV representative who explained to them the nature of GEOSURV activities and the role of its scientific departments in investigating for mineral ores and industrial rocks which are the basis for the establishment of our constructive and mineral industries. Then, the visitors took a tour in the departments of Geology and Central Laboratories where they got acquainted with the role of GEOSURV in preparing and supporting the detailed geological studies and its role in carrying out the required tests for rocks and water. Before their departure, the delegation visited the Geological Museum of Iraq and were informed of its history and exhibits. The visitors showed their gratitude and appreciation to GEOSURV Director General and to GEOSURV advanced cadre for their cooperation and knowledge

 

 

   

 

The Visit of Taiwanese Scientific Delegation to GEOSURV

GEOSDURV Director General, Ph.D. Safa’a el Deen F. Abd el Majeed, received the managers of (DeGapNet) and (ULTRACAM) Taiwanese companies on Thursday the 15th of November 2018 at GEOSURV headquarters. The visit was on the sidelines of GEOSURV participation in Baghdad International Fair in its 45th session - 2018. The visiting delegation presented a summary of their geological and geophysical activities using remote sensing and GIS techniques in setting the basis for geological survey, construction and urban planning. In return, GEOSURV Director General presented a satisfactory explanation of GEOSURV development in utilizing modern techniques in the fields of remote sensing and GIS techniques. The Director General accompanied his quests in a tour in the Department of Geology and The Department of Information where they got aquatinted with the workflow. The two parties discussed the mutual cooperation frameworks; then they visited the Iraqi Geological Museum.     

 

 

Baghdad International Fair 2018

GEOSURV is pleased to invite you to visit its section in Baghdad International Fair at its 45th session which is held on the 19th of November 2018 under the slogan (We are Determined to Build and Reconstruct as We were Determined to Liberate and Achieve Victory).

 

 

 

French Delegation Visit to GEOSURV

 

GEOSURV Director General, Ph.D. Safa’a el Deen F. Abd el Majeed, received the French delegation of Valgo & Geode companies on Monday the 12th of November 2018.

The French company is specialized in the fields of geophysics and geophysical research, and ideas for mutual cooperation have been discussed.

The French delegation visit was on the sidelines of their visit to GEOSURV section at Baghdad International Fair in its 45th session for 2018.

 

 

 

 

The Project of Sand Exploration at Holy Karbala Governorate

GEOSURV is concerned, among other activities, with performing various geological, geochemical, geophysical and hydrogeological surveys, besides performing the activities of investigation, exploration and prospecting for ores and raw materials suitable for various construction and mineral industries as the industries of brick and cement. One of GEOSURV plans for 2018, which is being carried out by specialized geological teams from the Department of Geology, is the project of sand exploration at holy Karbala governorate. This project aims at enhancing sand reserves which is used in various industries, besides providing new investment opportunities.   

 

 

 

The Project of Clay Exploration at Nugrat Al Salman/ Samawah Desert

GEOSURV is concerned, among other activities, with performing various geological, geochemical, geophysical and hydrogeological surveys, besides performing the activities of investigation, exploration and prospecting for ores and raw materials suitable for various construction and mineral industries as the industries of brick and cement. One of GEOSURV plans for 2018, which is being carried out by specialized geological teams from the Department of Geology, is the project of clay exploration at Samawah governorate. This project aims at enhancing clay reserves suitable for cement industry; thus, increasing the production and providing new investment opportunities.   

 

 

 

The Project of Limestone Exploration Suitable for Cement Industry at Al Diwaniya Governorate

GEOSURV is concerned, among other activities, with performing various geological, geochemical, geophysical and hydrogeological surveys, besides performing the activities of investigation, exploration and prospecting for ores and raw materials suitable for various construction and mineral industries as the industries of brick and cement. One of GEOSURV plans for 2018, which is being carried out by specialized geological teams from the Department of Geology and specialized drilling cadre in the activities of mineral exploration, is the project of limestone exploration at Al Diwaniya governorate. This project aims at enhancing limestone reserves suitable for cement industry; thus, increasing the production and providing new investment opportunities.

 

 

 

GEOSURV Ninth Managers’ Periodical Meeting

GEOSURV Director General, Ph.D. Safa'a el Deen F. Abd el Majeed, headed the 9th periodical meeting of the departments and divisions managers subordinated to the Director General's Office on Wednesday the 24th of October 2018. The meeting was attended by Mr. Mohammad Raheem Dleefy representing The Minister of Industry and Minerals Consultant Office for Development Affairs.

 

 

 

(Save Basra) Campaign

GEOSURV is contributing in the (Save Basra) campaign through sending five tanker trucks of drinking water to Basra inhabitants pursuant to the directives of His Excellency the Minister of The Ministry of Industry and Minerals.

Companies subordinate to MIM are also participating in this campaign with the available means by sending water tankers and drinking water bottles to relief our people in Basra.

 GEOSURV Director General, Ph.D. Safa’a el Deen F. Abd el Majeed expressed GEOSURV readiness to support this humanitarian campaign, besides supporting all humanitarian and voluntary activities to solve the water crisis and offer services to our people in Basra.

 

 

 

GEOSURV Director General, Safa'a el Deen F. Abd el Majeed, received the second secretary of the Australian Embassy in Baghdad, Mr. Lawrence Philips, on Thursday the 30th of August 2018. The guest was informed about GEOSURV activity field and its role in exploring constructing and mineral resources of Iraq. The Director General presented a general brief about the available investment opportunities offered by the Ministry of Industry and Minerals concerning constructing and mineral resources. The visitor expressed his admiration of the invested files presented to him which contain all the necessary details needed for the concerned investors about the available reserves, their locations and the industries which can be established depending on them. The visitor promised to convey this information to the concerned Australian companies and agencies. The two parties discussed the possibility of offering facilities for GEOSURV in the field of training its scientific cadre and the support of the Australian Government in providing specialized scholarships.
